Tottenham are reportedly concerned that deadline day signing Giovani Lo Celso may be sidelined for several weeks.

Lo Celso injured his groin during Argentina’s goalless draw with Chile last week with the 23-year-old allowed to return to Spurs immediately after.

The playmaker, who moved to north London last month on loan from Real Betis, insisted after the game that the injury was “not something to worry about”. But reports suggest Spurs are rather more concerned.

Upon being checked over by Spurs medics, the Evening Standard says “initial prognosis has left the club concerned that he could be sidelined for several weeks”.

Lo Celso is yet to start a game for Spurs having come off the bench in their last three matches.

Mauricio Pochettino spoke of the need for patience with his compatriot as he gets up to speed with the rest of the Spurs squad.

Pochettino has also been without his other summer signings, Tanguy Ndombele and Ryan Sessegnon, in recent weeks.
