Spurs are very interested in signing Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer, according to reports in Italy.

The Serbian bagged 21 goals in 37 Serie A outings last term despite Viola finishing 13th in the Italian top flight.

That form has led to interest from a number of clubs looking for a goalscorer, with Premier League side Tottenham joining arch-rivals Arsenal and Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid in wanting to sign the striker.

Do we owe an apology to Daniel Levy now?

The 21-year-old – who progressed through Partizan Belgrade’s youth academy before signing for Fiorentina in 2018 – only made his debut for Serbia last year but now has seven international caps and two goals for his country.

This summer’s transfer speculation at Spurs has been dominated by the Harry Kane saga with the boyhood Tottenham fan wanting to leave the club this summer.

It is still unclear whether he will remain in north London or move on with rumours Manchester City were willing to submit an offer of £127m for him.

Whether or not Kane stays it appears that Spurs want to add more firepower up front with Sky in Italy claiming Tottenham are ‘strongly interested’ in Vlahovic.

Spurs are ‘ready to present an offer close to the one they would have presented to Inter for Lautaro Martinez’ with the Argentine set to remain in Italy.

Atletico Madrid have already submitted a €60m (£51m) offer including bonuses for Vlahovic with the Spanish club and Fiorentina ‘still distant’ in negotiations.

The Serie A outfit want more for their star player and Atletico ‘do not want to go long in the negotiation and are turning decisively on Matheus Cunha’.

Cunha is a forward for Hertha Berlin and will provide Atletico with a cheaper alternative to Vlahovic, while Viola are lining up Genoa star Gianluca Scamacca in case the Serb leaves to Spurs or elsewhere.

Meanwhile, former Inter Milan striker Christian Vieri – speaking at the beginning of August – claimed Vlahovic is one of the best young striker in world football.

Vieri said: “Vlahovic, after Haaland, is the best striker in Europe for his age. He is a top striker and will score 20 goals easily next season.”
