Spurs want Leicester squad player to join £35m ‘expected arrival’

Leicester City winger Demarai Gray has emerged as a target for Premier League side Spurs this summer, according to a report.

The former England under-21 international has scored three goals and made three assists in 27 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes this season.

However, of those appearances only three were Premier League starts as Brendan Rodgers has preferred to use him off the bench this term.

OPINION: Was that Jamie Vardy’s greatest Leicester performance ever?

That won’t put off Tottenham, though, with The Times reporting that Spurs ‘are interested in signing’ Gray ‘to add to the expected arrival of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’.

Both Gray and Hojbjerg have entered the final year of their contract at Leicester and Southampton respectively, making them a tempting proposition for clubs who may struggle to spend big money this summer.

Gray scored in Leicester’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United on Thursday night and Tottenham’s ‘interest in him raises questions over the future of Erik Lamela at the club’.

Hojbjerg, meanwhile, is valued at around £35m by Southampton but, with the Saints rejecting Spurs’ attempts to include Kyle Walker-Peters in a deal, the transfer is in some doubt.

There has been interest from Everton in Hojbjerg too but Sky Sports claim that the Dane ‘would prefer’ a move to Spurs.
