Spurs will offer ‘post-playing career’, £400k wage to ‘tempt’ Kane into staying as club line up £85m bid
According to reports, Spurs are preparing to ‘offer’ Harry Kane a ‘post-playing career’ to ‘tempt’ him into rejecting Bayern Munich and PSG.
Kane’s future is in doubt heading into next season as his current contract is due to expire in 2024.
After scoring 30 goals in 38 Premier League games in 2022/23, Kane is being tracked by several clubs around Europe.
Man Utd reportedly earmarked him as their top striker target ahead of this summer but Erik ten Hag is now understood to be considering cheaper alternatives.
Tottenham’s high asking price – believed to be over £100m – is not putting off Bayern Munich, though. The Bundesliga giants have already had two bids rejected for the Englishman, who is being pursued as a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
But earlier this week, it was revealed that PSG are planning to step up their interest in Kane and they are willing to pay £85m to snatch him from Tottenham.
It would be a major blow for Spurs if Kane left so they would obviously prefer him to stay and extend his deal beyond 2024.
And The Telegraph are reporting that ‘Tottenham will look at trying to tempt Kane into staying with the offer of a post-playing career if he agrees to sign a new contract’.
The forward ‘could earn as much as £400,000 a week’ if he pens a new deal, but he has ‘shown no inclination to this summer as yet’.
On top of this huge pay rise, ‘Spurs are thought to be willing to look at ways of keeping Kane at the club after his playing career finishes’.
Potential options include a coaching role (as Spurs did with Ryan Mason and Jermaine Defoe), or an ambassadorial role (which is currently held by Ledley King).

The report adds: ‘Nothing has been discussed and Kane believes he could play on for another 10 years at the top level, but Tottenham want to do everything possible to try to keep the club’s record goalscorer.
‘Bayern believe Kane is open to a move to Germany and have not given up hope of signing him this summer or striking a pre-contract agreement with him in January.’
Kane returned to training earlier this week and he had a meeting with new Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou. The former Celtic manager admitted earlier this week that he has not been given “any assurances” regarding the striker’s future.
“I haven’t had any assurances and I wouldn’t expect any assurances,” Postecoglou said. “That’s just my nature. I just kind of go along and try to concentrate on the things I know right now.
“What I know right now is that Harry is part of this squad and he’s looking forward to coming back to training and being amongst these players and starting to work together.
“I don’t think it’s my role to sit down and treat people in a manner because of their circumstances. I’m really big on treating everyone the same and Harry has already entrenched himself in the history of this football club.”
