Lucas Moura: Why can’t Spurs win the Champions League?

Tottenham have finally announced the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Lucas Moura for around £25million.

Moura emerged as a serious target for Tottenham over the past month, with the winger having previously been linked with Manchester United.

He has not started a single game in all competitions for PSG this season after the arrival of compatriot Neymar.

Moura will wear the number 27 shirt at the club after signing a five-and-a-half-year deal.

He said in a video on his new club’s Twitter account: “It’s a chapter in my life, a new challenge for me. I am so happy.”

Moura sees no reason why Tottenham cannot be competing for the top prizes, not just domestically but in Europe as well.

He said: “I will give my best for this club because I think we have a lot of quality and we can win big things. I am so excited because everything is perfect and I’m sure we will do big things together.

“I want to play to help the team. I think the team is very, very strong. We can win a lot of things and why not the Champions League?”

All six of Moura’s appearances for PSG this season have been off the bench, and he added: “The most important thing is to play.

“Here I think it’s a new challenge to show my talent, my quality. It’s also a big club. The history of the club is very, very interesting. It’s a pleasure for me to play for Tottenham. Now I need to enjoy, to work hard and to show my quality.”
