Spurs target open to transfer if ‘impressive’ offer comes in
Tottenham transfer target Sasa Kalajdzic has hinted that he would be open to a move if an ‘impressive’ offer came in.
The 6ft 7in striker currently plays for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga, where he scored 16 goals in 33 matches last term.
He added to his transfer value at Euro 2020 by scoring for Austria against Italy in the last 16.
Five reasons for Spurs to be cheerful – even if *he* leaves
That goal ended the Azzurri’s run of 11 games without conceding.
However, Roberto Mancini’s men managed to hold out for the rest of extra-time to reach the quarter-finals.
Kalajdzic has appeared on Nuno Espirito Santo’s wish list as a potential option to replace Harry Kane, should the goalscorer leave in search of trophies.
Kalajdzic was asked about his future while at Stuttgart’s pre-season camp.
He told Kicker (via Goal): “I don’t think about it. I’m here, having fun with friends and preparing for the season.
“If something impressed me, I would do it, but that would have to come first.”
It looks like a switch to the Premier League is dependent on Spurs’ search for a new striker.
Should one of the two Manchester clubs manage to prize Kane away from north London, then Kalajdzic may become the subject of a formal bid.
The target man’s comments contradict those of his club’s sporting director Sven Mislintat.
Speaking about a potential move this summer, Mislintat said: “He feels right at home, has been training in VfB clothes all summer. I’m not so worried now, to be honest.”
Kalajdzic has also been linked with Chelsea, although the Blues are thought to be pursuing world-class strikers such as Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland.
Kalajdzic represented a number of Austrian clubs before joining Stuttgart in July 2019.
Since that transfer, he’s managed 18 goals in 42 games for the German side.
Kalajdzic is one of a number of players to be linked with Spurs.
They’re thought to be closing in on a deal for Japan centre-back Takehiro Tomiyasu of Bologna.
Fabio Paratici fell short with his opening bid of £15.5m but the two parties could soon agree on a fee.
A swap deal involving Erik Lamela and Sevilla winger Bryan Gil is also in the works.
