Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana winger Stanton Fredericks has faith in misfiring Amakhosi forward Siphelele Mthembu.

Fredericks is convinced the striker will play a key role for the reigning Premiership champions this season and in the future.

Stiga was impressed by the quality of football on display during Chiefs MTN8 semi-final against Bloemfontein Celtic and liked what he saw from the former Platinum Stars forward.

"The Chiefs and Celtic game was very entertaining," Fredericks told Sport24.

"I am quite chuffed to see how Mthembu is stepping up to the game for Kaizer Chiefs, he was really impressive, I believe he is going to play a good role for the team this season."

Mthembu will be hoping he did enough to impress head coach Steve Komphela to retain his place in the team for their next league match against SuperSport United on 12 September at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
