Sweden captain Andreas Granqvist admits reports of interest from Manchester United are “incredibly flattering”.
Jose Mourinho was desperate to sign a centre-back during the summer but Ed Woodward and the board blocked his attempts to move for the likes of Harry Maguire or Toby Alderweireld.
Reports in Sweden have claimed that the Red Devils are interested in bringing Helsingborgs defender Granqvist to Old Trafford on loan in January in a similar deal to that which saw Henrik Larsson enjoy a successful spell with the club in 2007.
Asked about interest from Old Trafford, Granqvist told : “I know that there is a lot of interest for me,” said the Granqvist to FotbollDireckt: “United is incredibly flattering but I have not heard anything concrete yet.”
The 33-year-old would be walking into a fractured dressing room if United do make their move. Mourinho would have to get his players back onside quickly if he is to remain at his post come the New Year.
