Szobozslai provides telling Salah update as Klopp beams following Liverpool triumph
Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai has claimed that Mohamed Salah wants to stay at the club amid the exit talk currently surrounding him.
The Reds made it three wins on the bounce as they breezed past Aston Villa in a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Szoboszlai opened the scoring for Liverpool after just three minutes and then an own goal from Matty Cash and a strike from Salah wrapped up all three points.
The Egyptian forward has been linked with a sensational £200m move to Al-Ittihad, but Szoboszlai is here to stay.
“You know it is football everyone is talking,” the midfielder told BBC Sport. “We are really happy that he has stayed. We are of course speaking between each other but he wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us.
“We are really happy – we need people in the team like him.”
Liverpool fans will be boosted by those words and they will also have been encouraged by Szoboszlai’s performance.
The 22-year-old looked the part against Aston Villa and the midfielder is seemingly loving life in Liverpool right now.
“It feels always good to win, even away, but at home against I don’t know how many people I am glad to score my first goal and there are going to be more coming,” the midfielder added.
“It’s always different, in the first home game we started not so well and against Newcastle we didn’t so the important thing was to come out well now and finish with 11 men. We did quite ok, quick to 2-0 and came out good and scored a goal in the second half too.
“I said it after the second game or the third game that of course we need time. We don’t know each other so well yet but we are going to be even better and better.”
Fresh off their 3-0 triumph against Aston Villa, Klopp was quick to back up Szoboszlai’s comments regarding Salah.
“He played a top game. Mo had to work super hard and he did,” Klopp told reporters.
“I never had any doubt about his commitment to this club. You can’t imagine how much fuss the world has made but how calm we are with it. He is our player and wants to play here.”
