Ten Hag benchwarmer ‘still expected to leave Man Utd’ as Palace leapfrog Forest in transfer ‘race’
Fabrizio Romano says Crystal Palace are now beating Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Henderson spent last season on loan with Nottingham Forest but suffered a season-ending injury in January. His last appearance of 202/23 came on January 14 against Leicester City.
Steve Cooper brought Keylor Navas in on loan until the end of last term as his side avoided relegation from the Premier League.
Henderson was expected to return to the City Ground on a permanent basis but for whatever reason he is still a Manchester United player with less than two weeks of the summer transfer window remaining.
Forest signed Matt Turner from Arsenal shortly before 23/24 got underway, though some journalists have said the Reds are looking to sign another shot-stopper before September 1.

Henderson would be an ideal addition – albeit a frustrating one for Turner, who warmed the bench for Arsenal last term.
The England international has been an unused substitute in both of Manchester United’s opening Premier League fixtures and Erik ten Hag is clearly not a big fan, having signed Andre Onana from Inter for around £45million.
According to Fabrizio Romano, there is now interest from Crystal Palace, who are “currently ahead” of Forest in the “race” for Henderson’s signature.
“Crystal Palace are currently ahead of Nottingham Forest in the race to sign Dean Henderson,” Romano wrote on Twitter. “Negotiations continue on both club and player side.
“Henderson, still expected to leave Man Utd.”
Palace’s current first-choice goalkeeper is Sam Johnstone, who took the No. 1 shirt of Vicente Guaita in the second half of last season.
Obviously, it is understandable for a manager to want two very good goalkeepers at their disposal, but you would expect Henderson to move to a club where he will be the undisputed No. 1.
Johnstone started Crystal Palace’s opening Premier League fixture of the season with Guaita left fuming at his role.
The Spanish goalkeeper is now expected to leave the Eagles after voicing his displeasure on social media.
