Ten Hag ‘orders’ €50m Man Utd ‘steal’ as raid on European giants is their ‘main goal’ this summer
According to reports, Erik ten Hag wants Manchester United to sign Juventus and Italy star Federico Chiesa, who has also been linked with Liverpool.
Man Utd took their summer spending to around £100m on Thursday night as Andre Onana completed his move from Inter Milan for a deal potentially worth £47m with add-ons. This signing follows the £55m arrival of Mason Mount from Chelsea.
It has been reported in recent days that United are now set to turn their attention to signing a new striker, with Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani among their targets.
But Spanish outlet Fichajes are reporting that they are also very keen to sign Chiesa from Serie A giants Juventus.
The 25-year-old was sensational for Italy during the delayed European Championships in 2021 as Roberto Mancini’s side won the tournament.
Since then, Chiesa has endured a difficult couple of years. He missed much of the 2021/22 campaign after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury and he made just six starts in Serie A last season.
Juventus are strapped for cash and they need to sell some of their prized assets to ease their financial troubles. Chiesa is one player who could move on and he has recently been linked with Liverpool.

But Fichajes are reporting that Ten Hag has ‘ordered’ the ‘steal’ of Chiesa from Juventus this summer.
The forward ‘has become one of United’s main goals for next season in the last few hours’ and they have to ‘make an offer of 50 million euros to be able to get their hands on him’.
Man Utd have the ‘most interest’ in Chiesa at the moment and Ten Hag reckons he ‘can get the best version’ of the Juventus man following his injury woes.
The Red Devils have actually signed three players this summer as former Leicester City and West Brom defender Jonny Evans has returned to the Premier League giants on a short-term deal.
The defender has been training with United in recent weeks and he has penned a deal so he can feature in their pre-season friendlies.
But ESPN are reporting that ‘United are keeping their options open with Evans and are refusing to rule out the possibility of signing the veteran defender permanently’. They add.
‘Sources have told ESPN that Ten Hag has been impressed with Evans after joining training sessions at Carrington and remains open-minded about whether there is a place for the centre-back in his squad for next season.’
