Things ‘would be different’ if Bebe joined United now

Benfica forward Bebe insists that things “would be different” if he joined Manchester United now.

Bebe moved to Old Trafford in a £7.4million deal in summer 2010, joining as a previously unheard of striker, and leaving as a ‘what the f*** was all that about?’ striker.

The 25-year-old played just seven games for United in four years, scoring twice before leaving for Portuguese side Benfica after numerous loans.

The forward is currently on loan at Rayo Vallecano in La Liga, and has scored just two goals in 30 appearances, but Bebe believes things “would be different” were he to join United now.

On his spell at the club, the striker said: “It left me good and bad memories, in this case because of the injuries. I arrived there when I was 19, didn’t speak a word in English but I dealt with it alone, went out to buy clothes and food and could manage to make them understand me.

“I learned a lot, everyone came to me to help, things didn’t go well, I could have enjoyed it a bit more but I don’t regret. It’s not easy to go from the Portuguese third division to one of the best clubs in the world. If it happened now, with what I know, it would be different.”
