Three Man Utd stars ‘likely’ to leave in ‘coming weeks’ as Ten Hag aims to raise funds
Three Manchester United stars are expected to leave the club in the coming weeks as Erik ten Hag aims to raise transfer funds.
With United focusing on deals for Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag is keen on raising transfer funds through player sales.
Ten Hag is looking to sell as many as 13 first team players this summer, although some of them might be harder to shift than others.
According to talkSPORT, Dean Henderson, Fred and Anthony Elanga are ‘likely to leave in the coming weeks’ which will be a boost.
Henderson isn’t expected to join United on their pre-season tour as he pushes for a £30m move to Nottingham Forest.
The goalkeeper doesn’t want to warm the bench at Old Trafford and an exit seems more than likely at this point.
Following the arrival of Mason Mount, the club are also expected to push ahead with plans to sell Fred this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder has attracted interest from Fulham, although they aren’t willing to meet United’s current asking price.
It’s currently being suggested that United are looking for around £20m for the midfielder, but Fulham deems this price to be too high.
Elanga also looks likely to depart, with Galatasaray interested in taking the 21-year-old on loan for the season.
Last season proved to be a frustrating campaign for Elanga as the winger struggled to nail down a starting spot.
Across all competitions, he featured in 26 matches, although the majority of his appearances came from the bench.
Elanga himself even admitted it had been a frustrating campaign for him back in March.
“It is frustrating. You want to play,” Elanga told reporters. “It is important. But if you don’t play, it’s not up to me but up to the coach.
“I have spoken to Erik [ten Hag] and it is private between the two of us. I know what he wants me to do and I can just keep training hard. When the opportunity comes, I just have to be ready to take it.”
While United seem confident in selling that trio, some other players could prove harder to shift.
According to reports, United are finding it hard to sell Harry Maguire due to a recent pay rise which was triggered in his contract.
