Youri Tielemans has denied that Jose Mourinho phoned him with regards to moving to Manchester United.
A former Anderlecht youth player, Lukasz Plonowski, claimed earlier this week that Mourinho had spoken with the current star of the Belgian side over a potential move.
However, Tielemans himself has rubbished the claims, telling Anderlecht’s official website: “I’ve never had contact with Jose Mourinho. Who says that is lying.
“I have the greatest respect for Mr Mourinho and many other managers, but he never called me. I concentrate on my football career and the important match of tomorrow [today in the Europa League play-off round vs Slavia Prague].”
The midfielder is one of the most coveted young stars in European football, and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford previously.
The Belgian made his first-team debut at just 16, the age at which he also made his first Champions League appearance.
Tielemans has over 100 appearances in the Jupiler Pro League, and was voted Belgian Talent of the Year in 2014, as well as Belgian Young Professional Footballer of the Year from 2013 to 2015.
The central midfielder has also been called up to the national team, but is yet to make his Belgium debut.
