The agent of Lucas Torreira says “it’s a pity” that the Arsenal midfielder could not work with Carlo Ancelotti at Napoli.
Torreira joined Arsenal from Sampdoria in the summer for around £26million.
He has yet to make his first start for the north London club, but impressed in the victory over West Ham.
Torreira’s agent says the Uruguayan is “settling well” and is “happy” at Arsenal, but that he wishes Napoli had appointed Ancelotti as their manager sooner to challenge for his signature.
“It’s a pity, I’m sorry Ancelotti wasn’t there at the start of the negotiation,” Pablo Bentancur told Radio Crc.
“He’d have been a great help for Torreira, he has tremendous international experience.
“But then Lucas called me and he confirmed to me that negotiations with Arsenal were too advanced for any second thoughts.
“If Arsenal had collapsed then Napoli would have been perfect.
“Arsenal satisfied all of our requests, even paying €5m more than the release clause.
“He’s adapting well to the Premier League, he’s settling well and he’s happy.”
