Tottenham chief makes new Son contract ‘top priority’

Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici will reportedly prioritise a new contract for Heung-Min Son.
The South Korean was in great form last season, registering 22 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.
He was part of a deadly attacking duo with Harry Kane that provided Spurs with a vast majority of their goals.

The club ultimately finished seventh in the Premier League, qualifying them for the Europa Conference League.
Their lack of Champions League football has led to rumours of a Son exit this summer.
But Paratici is determined to keep one of Nuno Espirito Santo’s star players.
According to 90Min, Paratici has made a new deal for Son one of his top priorities.
Talks are ongoing between the two parties and a contract extension could be announced in the coming weeks.
If the 29-year-old puts pen to paper on a long-term deal then it would ward off interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.
The report states that Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, along with Prem rivals Liverpool and Man City, are all known admirers.
Paratici is also keen to be active in the transfer market. A number of players have been linked with Spurs, including Denmark’s £34m-rated attacking midfielder Mikkel Damsgaard.
He could be signed to provide even more creativity in the squad next season.
Club officials are also hoping to improve the defence. Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez received criticism during the final few months of Jose Mourinho’s tenure.
As such, either Jules Kounde or Joachim Andersen could be taken to north London.
New signings would help to convince Son that his future lies at Spurs.
He was asked about Kane’s future while on international duty last month.
Son said: “Has Kane moved already? Everything is not decided. Rather than worrying about his transfer, I am doing my best at Tottenham.
“I want to focus on the national team and Tottenham. Maybe Kane is doing the same, he is busy preparing for the Euros.”
Son joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen for a £27m fee in 2015. He’s always been a regular performer in England but really stepped up his performances during 2020/21.
