Tottenham boss Antonio Conte touches his face

Tottenham are looking to give Antonio Conte the tools he needs for a successful season by weighing up a swoop for two Inter Milan players, according to reports.

Spurs have just one point from their first two Premier League matches back after the World Cup break with Conte’s side drawing 1-1 against Brentford and losing 2-0 to Aston Villa at home on Sunday.

Tottenham are now on a run of just four Premier League wins in their last ten games with Conte’s men losing their place in the top four to Manchester United, who are two points clear in fourth with a game in hand.

Conte called it a “miracle” when they achieved a top-four finish last campaign and he will be hoping that Tottenham back him in the transfer market one again.

Inter Live claim that the Spurs boss is hoping to target his former club Inter Milan and Tottenham ‘could try’ to sign defenders Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij in January.

Conte ‘continues to annoy’ Serie A side Inter Milan with the report insisting that Spurs could make an offer of between €42m and €45m for the duo as Tottenham look to appease their manager.

That offer is ‘considered low’ by Inter Milan and Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi insists that it could cost Spurs as much as €50m just to land Dumfries.

In order to get the price for Dumfries down, Barzaghi claims that Tottenham could attempt to include Emerson Royal in any deal.

Barzaghi said on his YouTube channel: “Dumfries had a star turn at the World Cup, with goals and assists.

“Given the prices that are circulating, 60 million could fit, but even 50 million could be good. A bidding war cannot be ruled out with Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

“(They) could offer the Moroccan flanker Mazraoui as a quid pro quo, but he costs and could fetch around 20 million. Tottenham is also on the player and could offer Emerson Royal.”

Emiliano Buendia and Douglas Luiz scored the goals as Aston Villa beat Tottenham over the weekend and Conte insists that it is key that Spurs keep his forwards fit for the rest of the season.

“Last season we made a miracle, I continue to repeat,” Conte said.

“It happened why? Because we played only one competition, we played with 12 to 13 players and they didn’t have injuries in the last 15 games and we played with the best players every game because, I repeat, we played only the league.

“The situation is clear and I think you can see our situation from the start of the season.

“We had Bryan Gil, who played a good game but he’s a young player and you need to give young players time to become stronger physically. I’m pleased from what I’ve seen from him in the game.

“Then there is (Harry) Kane, Son, Richarlison and Kulusevski. When it happened that two of these (are injured), and this season it happened a few times with Richarlison and Kulusevski, you are in trouble.

“Also Sonny has to continue to improve and it becomes difficult this situation, because if you ask me about the central defenders, they played a good game, the two midfielders played a good game, the wing-backs played a good game and then we struggled a bit up front because we found a team defending really deep.

“If you have a solution on the bench to change the game, it’s easier because you change the cards during the game.”
