Reported Tottenham target Memphis Depay during a match

According to reports, Tottenham are ‘leading the race’ to sign Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, with several Premier League clubs interested.

The 28-year-old joined the Catalan club last summer after his Lyon contract expired.

He has played 29 times this campaign and has provided 12 goal contributions for his new side.

After starting Barcelona’s opening 16 La Liga matches before picking up an injury, he has only featured for 88 minutes in total.

It will be hard for Depay to break back into the Blaugrana’s starting XI with the team thriving under the management of Xavi.

Last time out in the league Barca demolished arch-rivals Real Madrid 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netting a brace as the Dutchman came on for the last 19 minutes.

Despite his lack of minutes in 2022, Depay is still Barca’s top scorer this season, with Aubameyang now one goal behind despite having played 17 games less.

He only signed a two-year contract when he signed for the La Liga side last summer, meaning they could cash in on the Holland international at the end of 2021/22.

It was reported earlier this month that Tottenham ‘made an early move’ to sign Depay this summer.

And Mundo Deportivo (via The Boot Room) are now claiming that Spurs are ‘top of the list’ of the Premier League sides interested in the 28-year-old.

It is said that Depay is happy in Catalonia but will ‘study his situation’ with numerous sides in Italy also keen.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace and Southampton are both eyeing summer moves for Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks, according to reports.

Winks, 26, was initially a regular starter under Antonio Conte but has been benched for three of Spurs’ last fast four league games and the Daily Star claim he does not feature in Conte’s long-term plans.

As a result, Spurs will listen to offers for the Englishman this summer and the report has identified Palace and Southampton as potential suitors.
