Tottenham leave Janssen out of Champions League squad

Vincent Janssen’s decision to stay at Tottenham has backfired after he was left out of their Champions League squad.

The Dutchman turned down a move to Brighton to fight for his place at Spurs, but even Georges-Kévin N’Koudou has been included in Mauricio Pochettino’s Champions League squad ahead of the former AZ Alkmaar man.

The absence of Erik Lamela was no shock as the Argentine has been absent with a hip injury for almost a year, but Janssen’s omission comes as a huge surprise.

Fernando Llorente was brought in by Spurs on deadline day and he joins Harry Kane as Tottenham’s only two out-and-out strikers.
