Tottenham, Liverpool-linked attacker ‘accepts’ Brighton as Prem outfit ‘close in’ on shock transfer
FC Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati has reportedly ‘accepted’ a move to Brighton amid interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham and Liverpool.
The Spanish giants are blessed with an immense pool of young talent and 20-year-old Fati has already made over 100 senior appearances for them across all competitions.
Fati grabbed ten goals and four assists across all competitions last season but he was restricted to just 12 starts in the league. And so far this term, he has not started any of Barcelona’s opening three La Liga fixtures.
The Spain international has been heavily linked with a potential move to the Premier League throughout this summer and it is now looking likely that a deal will be completed.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano revealed on Wednesday morning that Spurs are in talks with Barcelona over a loan deal involving Fati.
He tweeted: “Understand Tottenham are now in contact with Barca to negotiate for Ansu Fati deal on loan until June 2024.
“Discussions about conditions of the deal but Barça want 100% of the salary covered. Ansu, also presented to Chelsea as opportunity but no former approach yet.”
A separate report from Spanish outlet Sport has claimed that Liverpool have expressed ‘interest’ in Fati and Abde Ezzalzouli as they plan for Mohamad Salah’s departure amid significant interest from the Saudi Pro League.

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo meanwhile reported Fati has ‘said no’ to Sevilla and they ‘believe he is going to Tottenham’ as he has ‘opted for the Premier League’.
The attacker is ‘listening to offers’ as he is looking for regular game time and Sevilla’s hierarchy are of the understanding that he has ‘chosen Tottenham as his destination’.
The report notes that Spurs and Barcelona are yet to ‘agree on the transfer’ but his agent is attempting to ‘speed up contacts’ with the view to securing him a move.
Yet on Wednesday night, it emerged that Brighton are the player’s most likely destination.
Romano tweeted: “Brighton are closing in on Ansu Fati deal as Barça are prepared to accept the formal proposal received on loan.
“Ansu Fati has accepted Brighton as destination — De Zerbi, key factor. Final green light soon and then here we go.”
This is a major coup for Brighton but it goes to show that their immense work – both on and off the field – is being recognised by big hitters around Europe.
