Tottenham MP criticises ‘selfish’ COVID-19 rule breakers

Tottenham MP David Lammy has slammed Giovani Lo Celso, Erik Lamela and Sergio Reguilon after they were pictured celebrating together on New Year’s Eve.
The three players, along with West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, were pictured with their families celebrating in one of their homes on Thursday night.
There were eleven people in the image in total. Tier 4 rules state that people must not mix with other households indoors.
The Mailbox is still ‘not convinced’ by ‘brain dead’ Man Utd
Tottenham released a statement on Saturday in response to the incident:
“We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas.
“Particularly as we know the sacrifices everybody around the country made to stay safe over the festive period.
“The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to adhere and set an example.
“The matter will be dealt with internally.”
All three players were left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s starting eleven for their game against Leeds United on Saturday.
Lo Celso was not available as he recently suffered a hamstring injury. But Lamela was left out of their 20-man matchday squad, while Reguilon was named on the bench.
Lammy criticised the actions of the trio via his official Twitter account:
“Lo Celso, Lamela, Reguilon and Lanzini breaking lockdown rules over Christmas! So damn stupid and selfish. It just beggars belief.”
