Tottenham director Fabio Paratici has reportedly been working on signing Torino full-back Stephane Singo ‘in the last few days’.

Singo, who has operated primarily as a right wing-back, has three goals and four assists for the Serie A side this season.

And Tuttosport (via Sport Witness) claim Spurs are interested in signing the 21-year-old, whose current Torino deal expires in the summer of 2023, though there’s an option of a further year.

The report claims Spurs transfer chief Paratici has been working to open negotiations ‘in the last few days’ and manager Antonio Conte is thought to be a fan.

Given the expected departure of Singo’s teammate Gleison Bremer this summer, with Tottenham among the many suitors for the Brazilian centre-back, Torino do not want another one of their assets to leave the club.

The report claims they have told Tottenham they will not be welcoming bids for Singo, but Spurs are set to to ‘arrive with an offer’ regardless.

Singo is valued by Tranfermarkt at £14m, but it appears Spurs will have to offer significantly above market price to get their man.

Meanwhile, Paul Merson has labeled Tottenham a “one-man team” but believes that they are the “favourites for the top four”.

He said: “You watch Tottenham completely and utterly dismantling Newcastle on Sunday. Newcastle aren’t the worst team in the world. I watched them at Chelsea a few weeks ago, and bar genius from Kai Havertz and Jorginho, the Blues didn’t really look like scoring that day – then Tottenham go and put five past them.

“Spurs are the favourites for top four now. When Harry Kane’s playing like he is, I don’t think too many teams are going to beat them. I saw him go to the Etihad and rip Manchester City apart. I saw him rip West Ham apart, I saw him rip Newcastle apart.

“But you take Kane out of the team, top four ain’t happening for Spurs. It’s as simple as that. When he doesn’t turn up at Burnley away, they get beaten. Tottenham are a one-man team and that’s not being disrespectful.

“You could have a Ferrari, but without an engine in the car it ain’t working. He’s the all-round package, and that’s why he’s the best centre-forward in the world, and I’ve said it for a long, long time.”
