Tottenham ‘resolve issues’ and reach ‘full agreement’ to sign €45m top target – ‘here we go confirmed!’

Tottenham Hotspur have managed to “resolve issues” with Sporting Lisbon so they have now reached a “full agreement” to sign Pedro Porro.
The right wing-back was identified as Tottenham’s main target for this month at the start of the January transfer window.
Antonio Conte is keen to bring in an upgrade on Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty, while Djed Spence is heading to Ligue 1 side Rennes on loan.
Porro has a €45m release clause in his contract and Sporting Lisbon have made it clear that they would only let him leave if they receive this fee.
Talks looked to be progressing well between the two clubs but earlier this week it was revealed that the ‘deal is off’ after Sporting Lisbon ‘reneged’ on transfer ‘terms’.
The report added that Porro was ‘left distraught’ after he was informed that ‘he would not be allowed to leave’.
Spurs have now got the transfer back on track, though. Fabrizio Romano is reporting that they are “resolving all the issues” and are “finally expected to complete the deal”.
He later added that a “full agreement” has been reached over the €45m transfer and Porro will now travel to London for his medical.
Romano continued: “Tottenham have re-scheduled medical tests for Pedro Porro: it was planned on Monday but will actually happen… on Tuesday.
“It’s all done and sealed between Spurs and Sporting — as revealed, Porro will become #THFC player for €45m. Here we go confirmed.”
A separate report from David Ornstein of The Athletic notes that Tottenham have ‘reached an agreement in principle’ to sign the defender.
Ornstein states that the ‘deal will be completed once all the relevant paperwork is completed’ prior to Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.
It is believed that Porro ‘could be replaced’ by former Arsenal defender Hector Bellerin, who currently plays for FC Barcelona.
This is backed up by Romano: “Understand Sporting are closing in on deal to sign Hector Bellerin. There’s an agreement on a permanent move plus a sell-on clause for Barcelona.
“Matter of hours and it will be done and sealed. Bellerín will replace Pedro Porro who’s going to join Tottenham.”
This update about Porro will certainly be welcomed by ex-Spurs man Jamie O’Hara. After the deal looked off earlier this week, heargued that this is a signing that his former club have to “make happen”.
“We’ve got to buy new players! The players are not good enough at the back.
“We have got to back Antonio Conte. If we want to keep him at the football club and be successful, you have got to bring the players in.
“Pedro Porro is a fantastic player, he is way better than what we have got.
He added: “Porro is a big signing for us. We make that happen and I will go, ‘Okay, we are going in the right direction’.
“Centre-half, another left-wing-back, creative midfielder and a new ‘keeper! Then we are flying.”
