Tottenham ‘scared off’ by Man Utd target’s £100m valuation

Tottenham have been ‘scared off’ a move for Wilfried Zaha after Crystal Palace valued him at around £100m.

Zaha’s future at Palace is uncertain after he reportedly informed the club of his desire to leave, having publicly revealed his desire to win trophies just days earlier.

Manchester United were quickly linked with a move for their former player, who would apparently welcome a return to Old Trafford this summer.

Arsenal have also shown an interest, offering £40m and one of three players in part-exchange.

But that bid does not come close to Palace’s valuation of £100m, which the London Evening Standard claim has ‘scared off’ Tottenham.

The north London club ‘are ready to back’ Mauricio Pochettino amid claims he could be tempted by Juventus.

But such a figure would be too steep for a club whose record signing remains £42m Davinson Sanchez, and who have not bought a single player since January 2018.

Tottenham ‘weren’t willing’ to meet an ‘asking price’ of £70m for Zaha last summer, with the winger signing a five-year contract last August. They won’t be spending nine figures on anyone anytime soon.
