Erik Lamela is enjoying his time at Tottenham, but admits that he wishes to return to Argentina one day.
Lamela joined the north London side in summer 2013 for a fee of around £30million.
Signed from Roma, the forward was intended to help replace Gareth Bale, who left for Real Madrid.
Lamela struggled initially at White Hart Lane, but has become a key fixture in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The 24-year-old is settled at the club after a difficult start, but admits that he wants to return to former club River Plate, where he spent his first two years as a professional, one day.
“You always have the desire to go back, but I’m also aware that I’m 24 and I’m fine where I am,” he told La Pagina Millonaria. “It’s a bit difficult to go back now, as I still have many years of contract at Tottenham and I have my head there. I only think of what is coming at Tottenham.
“Time goes by so fast, it seemed like yesterday I was playing for River.
“I’ve been in Europe for several years, I’m trying to enjoy every moment because the career is not very long, and I’m enjoying the English football, which I like a lot.”
