A ‘surprise bid’ from Tottenham for Eberechi Eze has reportedly not been ruled out, with the Eagles ‘fearful of losing’ the star to his ‘firm admirers’ this summer.

Palace will be riding high at the moment after keeping Michael Olise under lock and key. Chelsea were said to have agreed a fee with the Eagles over the signing of the star this week.

However, that deal never went through, with the winger instead deciding to stay put at Selhurst Park, penning a new deal with his club just days after the apparent Blues agreement.

While one Palace star has remained, there’s a possibility another one could walk out the door. The Express reports a ‘surprise bid’ from Tottenham for Eze is ‘not ruled out’.

Spurs have cash from selling Harry Kane and it’s suggested they might decide to spend some of that on the 25-year-old.

The Eagles are said to be ‘fearful of losing’ Eze to Tottenham, who it’s stated are ‘firm admirers’ of the attacking-midfielder. Indeed, losing Eze would end the high they are currently on.

They’ll have been ecstatic to know Olise wanted to stay, so it’d be a cruel blow if Eze was to leave so soon after. It’ll be even more damaging if the latter is the man who makes way than it would’ve been the other way around.

At least if Olise was to move on, Palace would have seen an injured player go, so they would not have felt the effects any more than they currently are with him sidelined.

But if Eze is to leave while Olise is injured, they’ll be without two stars for some time rather than one. That’s after they already lost Wilfried Zaha this summer.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham will make a move for Eze. They’ve already signed James Maddison to play in the no.10 position this summer, and he starred on debut, registering two assists.

Eze can play on either wing as well as in the attacking-midfield role, though. It wouldn’t hurt Tottenham to have options, and a player that can play in multiple positions could help in a range of scenarios.

He would also up the quality of the side, and given Spurs are big fans of his, they might well chance their arm with a transfer offer.
