According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie is ‘tempted’ by Barcelona’s offer for him ahead of this summer.

The 25-year-old has been with AC Milan since 2017. He initially joined them on loan from Atalanta before this move was made permanent in 2019.

Kessie has featured over 200 times for the Italian giants across all competitions. He has also been capped over 50 times by Ivory Coast.

The midfielder is expected to depart AC Milan this summer as his contract expires in June. He has been linked with a switch to the Premier League and Tottenham appear to be the side most interested.

Antonio Conte’s side face competition from Barcelona for Kessie. Respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has suggested that they are ‘pushing’ for him and Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen.

Romano adds that Kessie is ‘tempted’ by Barcelona’s offer of €6.5m guaranteed per year:

Elsewhere, Harry Kane has not escaped the censure of Roy Keane for his part in the recent poor form of Tottenham.

Ian Wright suggested that it’s simple for an organised team to shut Tottenham down.

“It’s very difficult to measure them at the moment,” Wright said. “What you see with Tottenham, if you can condense them, keep them tight, stop Harry Kane from coming into those places, you can then hit like Middlesbrough did yesterday.

“They were very impressive. Their goal was fantastic. You can curtail Tottenham and that’s what they’ve done.”

But Keane was predictably more withering, telling ITV Sport that “you shouldn’t be surprised, Spurs losing these games”.

“Spurs, Spursy,” he continued. “How many times do we have to say it? Whatever’s in that club’s DNA, the players, there’s a weakness there.

“They’re pretty pathetic, I’ll be honest with you. But I wasn’t surprised. They’ve come up to Middlesbrough midweek, probably a bit cold. No surprises there.”

Asked whether the latest defeat could revitalise Harry Kane’s desire to leave, Keane replied: “He’s part of the problem. He’s on the pitch. He needs to do more.”

Wright defended the England captain by saying he’s “done well recently” and “he’ll score” if he gets chances, but Keane remained dismissive.

“He’s still got to do more,” he said. “He’s still got to lead them. He doesn’t lead them that well.

“Typical Tottenham. Typical Spurs. You can’t trust them.”
