Toure prepared to stay and see out City contract

Yaya Toure has turned down moves to Italy and China and is in no rush to leave Manchester City, according to reports.

The 33-year-old midfielder has 12 months left on his deal at the Etihad and he is fully prepared to see out that contract, which is worth around £12million.

Toure, who signed for £24million from Barcelona in 2010, netted just six Premier League goals in 32 appearances for City last season and he was expected to be one of the first casualties under the new reign on Pep Guardiola, but the Ivory Coast man is ready to stay on.

The player and his agent are well aware that no other Premier League club will match his £240,000-a-week wages and the Daily Express report that his “family are settled in England and he is keen to stay in the Premier League”.

Chinese clubs Shanghai and Jiangsu Suning and Serie A giants Inter Milan are keen on Toure but he has so far rejected their advances, but with City unlikely to pay up his contract his future could be with City for one more season.

Guardiola has already signed  Ilkay Gundogan as Toure’s replacement, but with the German likely to miss the start of the season while he completes his recovery from a dislocated knee cap, there may be a place for Toure in Guardiola’s plans.
