Agent: Man Utd, Chelsea riches could not turn Cavani’s head

The huge money on offer at Manchester United and Chelsea could not turn Edinson Cavani’s head, according to the Paris Saint-Germain striker’s agent.

Both the Premier League sides were linked with moves for the Uruguayan but Atletico Madrid came the closest to signing him.

Cavani, who only has six months left on his contract, ended up staying at PSG until the end of the season after Atletico failed to pay the hefty mid-season fee to release him from his contract at Parc des Princes.

Cavani was willing to receive less than with PSG,” said his brother and agent, Walter Guglielmone.

“Atletico could not cover the total economic cost of the operation and PSG did not want to lower the amounts he was asking for. Atletico Madrid did not close the agreement.

“Do you think that Edi did not play for almost a month at PSG so that I could drop the operation for a commission and that Edi did not fulfill his dream of going to Atletico Madrid?

“If it were for money, Edi would have gone to England, Manchester or Chelsea.”
