Transfer expert reveals €55m Man Utd signing ‘will be sealed next week’ with terms already ‘agreed’
According to Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan and Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is ‘really close to signing’ for Premier League giants Man Utd.
Erik ten Hag is attempting to acquire his main targets quickly as Man Utd prepare for the 2023/24 campaign.
They have already splashed out around £55m to sign England international Mason Mount from Chelsea and they are pursuing Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.
With David De Gea out of contract and likely to move elsewhere, United need to recruit a new number-one goalkeeper and it has been made clear in recent days that Onana is Ten Hag’s preferred target.
The shot-stopper worked with Ten Hag during their time together at Ajax and he spent last season with Serie A giants Inter Milan.
The 27-year-old is admired by Ten Hag, who is eyeing a reunion with the former Ajax man. Earlier this week, Romano revealed that Man Utd have made a second bid for Onana.
“Manchester United have improved their bid for Andre Onana. It’s now worth €50m add-ons included, around €45m plus €5m add-ons,” Romano tweeted.
“Inter always asked for €60m package — but sources believe €55m could be the right number to make it happen.”

And Romano has since taken to Twitter to reveal that United are “now really close to signing Onana” following a “positive round of talks” with Inter Milan.
He claims a “final bid will arrive soon” and then the deal will be “done”. Onana has already agreed “personal terms” with United and Romano has been told that the transfer “will be sealed by the end of next week”.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has added: “Understand Onana has today been informed the #MUFC move is on and to prepare accordingly. Manchester United and Inter both expect the deal to happen following further talks.”
Urawa Red Diamonds’s Zion Suzuki has reportedly been picked out by United as Onana’s new backup, but former Switzerland goalkeeper Jorg Stiel has told the Red Devils that they should sign Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich.
“I would advise him to switch,” Stiel told SportBILD.
“If he doesn’t have a regular place in the club, Kobel will be number one at the European Championship. Yann can look around very relaxed.
“Manchester United should be interested, coach Erik ten Hag likes goalkeepers who can play football. As a club, United would be a great option.
“However, I see Yann more in Spain or France, where he can use his playing skills better than in England. For me, the Premier League doesn’t suit him.”
