Transfer expert reveals Bayern plan to ‘force’ Kane transfer with ‘improved’ £80m bid to be submitted
Journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Bayern Munich are primed to ‘test Daniel Levy’s resolve’ with an ‘improved’ bid for Tottenham star Harry Kane.
The striker is out of contract in 2024 and at this point, it seems pretty unlikely that he will sign a new contract extension.
Kane was pursued by Man City in 2021 but he is now being monitored by Man Utd and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The Englishman was reportedly earmarked as Erik ten Hag’s top target ahead of this summer but United have since turned their attention to alternative targets. This is because Spurs seem unwilling to sell Kane for less than £100m.
This is not deterring Bayern Munich, though. They will be hoping that Levy is more willing to negotiate with a European club as they are searching for Robert Lewandowski’s long-term replacement.
Earlier this week, the German side submitted their first official bid for Kane. It has since emerged that they feel confident they can agree a deal for “less than €100m [£86m] all in”.
Jacobs is now reporting that Bayern Munich’s next offer will be worth “around £80m all in”. He has also indicated that they “want Kane to help them to force the move”.
“Understand that Bayern are to test Daniel Levy’s resolve with an improved offer of around £80m all in for Harry Kane,” Jacobs added.
“#MUFC explored Kane and had low optimism a deal was possible. It remains to be seen whether Levy will sell (and at below £100m) to a non-Premier League club. Bayern want Kane to help them ‘force’ the move.”
Speaking towards the end of last year, Gabby Agbonlahor questioned why Kane would want to join Bayern as the Bundesliga is “not a very competitive league”.
“The only reason I can’t see it happening is that he looks like a guy who wants to break Alan Shearer’s goal record,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider. “That’s the only thing that makes it not make sense. If he broke that record then I could understand, try a new challenge.
“Spurs are looking like a good side at the moment. They are in the Champions League. Why would he want to leave and go to Bayern Munich?
“To be honest, it’s not a very competitive league compared to the Premier League. I just don’t see Harry Kane wanting to go there, to be honest.
“If it was a Real Madrid then you might sacrifice the goalscoring record in the Premier League but not to go to the Bundesliga.”
