Gossip: Arsenal’s swap deal with Atletico; PSG eye Aubameyang

The gossip is here and it is hot, hot, hot…

PSG PONDER AUBAMEYANG SWOOP
Summer days are here again which means sunshine, burning flesh and Arsenal’s best player going into the final year of his contract.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s situation has made everyone sit up and take note – except Arsenal’s top brass, obviously – and clubs across Europe are pondering a move for the Gabon striker. Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked with the Gunners skipper, while Barcelona are also keeping a close eye on his situation.

He is the most valuable 30-year-old in world football, you know.

Now it seems PSG are sniffing. The Ligue 1 champions are in the market for a centre-forward this summer since Edinson Cavani is on his way and they appear to have little intention of taking up their option on Mauro Icardi. So Le1o Sport says Aubameyang is firmly in the Parisians’ thinking.

Their interest hasn’t gone as far as to embark upon negotiations with either Arsenal or Aubameyang but he seems to tick many of PSG’s boxes. Plus, for Barca, Auba is a back-up target should they fail to wheel and deal with Inter Milan for Lautaro Martinez, while Inter themselves would be prohibited by the veteran’s wage demands.

ATLETICO AND ARSENAL IN SWAP DEAL?
With Aubameyang on his way, it would be a really bad idea for Arsenal to get rid of Alexandre Lacazette. But, Arsenal…

A report from AS reckons Atletico Madrid are very keen on the France striker but they, like Arsenal, have seen their transfer funds almost wiped out by Covid-19. They can play swapsies, however…

It is thought that Atletico would offer Thomas Lemar to Arsenal in exchange for Lacazette. Of course they would. Lemar has been dog muck for much of this season.

Lemar, who Arsenal and Liverpool previously fought over, hasn’t scored or created a goal and he hasn’t managed more than an hour in any game since October. Perhaps a change of scene is just what he needs but Arsenal fans would be loathe to lose another of their biggest assets for the sake of gambling on Lemar coming good.

SANE’S NUMBER UP AT BAYERN
Like Aubameyang, Leroy Sane is also entering the last season of his current deal and Bayern Munich are all over it. The Bavarians are really pulling out all the stops for the Germany winger, y’know, aside from actually agreeing a deal with Manchester City.

It was reported earlier this week that Bayern may be willing to cough up around £50million for Sane but City remain reluctant to sell, despite his precarious contract situation. Bayern, though, have turned to the Barca transfer playbook, with their players talking about about how wonderful it would be to have Sane among their ranks and now, according to The Mirror, the Bundesliga leaders are making it known that their No.10 shirt is ready and waiting for him.

Because that will make all the sodding difference…
