If Arsenal land Sterling it could hamper Man City’s move for Kane. Maybe don’t let Sterling go to Arsenal then…

KANE ‘GREEN LIGHT’
“Having won the league, it is not the time to actually sit back and be content,” Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

“That actually would be your biggest mistake, this is the time to send a strong message, that there’s no contentment, that you’re not satisfied with just winning the league.

“We lose a very important legend in Sergio Aguero, very hard shoes to fill, but I’m confident we will find the right player to fill those shoes.”

It’s not quite the ‘Harry Kane green light’ as claimed by The Telegraphbut it is close to confirmation that City want an actual striker, after a game that confirmed they definitely need one.

STERLING’S SILVER
City are prepared to offer Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, plus cash, in order to land Kane.

That’s according to The Sun, who also claim that City could fail to get Kane as Arsenal are in fact favourites to sign Sterling.

While Jesus’ £90,000-a-week wages would not be a problem for Daniel Levy and Spurs, Sterling’s £300,000-a-week could well be an issue.

The England international would be Tottenham’s highest paid player by some distance, with Kane himself said to be on around £200,000-a-week.

But Sterling’s wages would not be such a problem for Arsenal, who have two players – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Thomas Partey – on £250,000-a-week and a rich history of offering big contracts; often ill-advised ones.

The question is whether City would let Sterling leave for Arsenal if they know that will prevent them landing Kane. No, is presumably the answer. That would be daft.

ABRAMOVICH ‘PERSONALLY DRIVES’
Roman Abramovich is showing no signs of getting bored, folks – he will be handing Thomas Tuchel a load of dosh to improve his Champions League winning squad this summer.

Reports suggest Tuchel wants to improve the defence, midfield and attack. All except the goalkeepers then, although there are also rumours of a new stopper being added.

But not content to palm all transfer dealings to Marina Granovskaia, Mr Abramovich will ‘personally drive’ a move for former Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku, according to Eurosport.

The 28-year-old has scored a stunning 64 goals in 95 games in two Serie A seasons following his £66million move from Manchester United.

The Belgian was neither a flop or a hero at Stamford Bridge, so has nothing to fear should he return, and the Blues are keen to prey on Inter Milan’s financial issues to lure him back to the club.
