Gossip: Arsenal wrap up two deals, Man Utd give Gunners, Spurs boost
Arsenal have apparently all but secured two deals, while Man Utd have given the Gunners and Spurs a transfer boost…
GUNNERS GETTING BUSINESS DONE
Fabrizio Romano confirmed yesterday that Arsenal had wrapped up a deal for Nuno Tavares from Benfica with the player pictured in a private jet presumably on the way to north London. The Portugal under-21 international has signed a five-year deal at the Emirates Stadium with Benfica receiving ‘€8m plus add ons’.

One transfer which seemed to be getting away from the Gunners was a deal for Brighton defender Ben White but now it is apparently closer than ever. On Thursday, the Daily Mail claimed that Everton were prepared to make an offer that trumped anything Arsenal were willing to pay White. The ‘speed with which Everton have moved since Benitez’s appointment this week has impressed him’ with Everton willing to pay the Seagulls £50m for his services.
However, Football.London now claim that ‘things are all under control’ at Arsenal with the website adding that ‘a deal for White to join the Gunners is all but complete and is expected to be finalised after Euro 2020’.
MAN UTD PUT KOUNDE DEAL ON HOLD
Manchester United have decided they will not be pursuing a deal for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde unless their potential transfer for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane falls through, according to reports.
After agreeing a deal to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, ESPN claimed soon after that France international Varane is next on their list with Man Utd ‘close to finalising a deal’ for the centre-back. However, sealing the deal could take longer than suggested with Spanish publication AS adding that United are looking to avoid paying ‘more than €45m’ with Varane’s contract due to expire next summer.
Kounde is another option that has been mooted this summer with one report even claiming that the Red Devils had an initial offer of €45m turned down for the Sevilla man. But now ‘transfer insider’ Dean Jones has told The Done Deal Show (via the Daily Express) that Kounde has fallen down United’s priority list this summer. Villarreal’s Pau Torres features higher on their list if a deal for Varane didn’t come to fruition and that could be good news for Arsenal or Tottenham.
Both the north London clubs have been linked with Kounde after an impressive campaign in La Liga. He made 34 appearances as Sevilla qualified for next season’s Champions League with a fourth-place finish.
