Arsenal could finally make a move for Youri Tielemans by offering Leicester a World Cup hopeful, while Roberto Firmino is close to joining Juve…
ARSENAL MAY OFFER PART-EX DEAL FOR TIELEMANS
One of the biggest head-scratchers of the summer has been the question of why no club has yet taken Youri Tielemans from Leicester. The Belgium midfielder is a year from the end of his contract at the King Power and keen to move on. The Foxes need whatever they raise from his sale to fund their own recruitment plans, but still he remains in limbo at Leicester.
Arsenal are said to have been talking to Tielemans all summer and the feeling is the Gunners will eventually get around to making a bid. Fabrizio Romano said earlier in the week that they are waiting to shift some of their fringe players to make room for the 25-year-old.
The Mirror suggests Arsenal could kill two birds with one stone by offering one of their wantaways to Leicester as a makeweight in a deal to sign Tielemans.
Brendan Rodgers is on the hunt for a goalkeeper to replace Nice-bound Kasper Schmeichel and Bernd Leno is one candidate to fill the Dane’s gloves. Fulham were reported to be interested but talks between the London clubs appear to have stalled, paving the way for Arsenal to offer Leno to Leicester.
Which may or may not work for the Foxes. As well as a goalkeeper, they also need the cash, and Arsenal seem minded to drive the value of the package for Tielemans down to as little as £25million, including the Germany stopper.
Shifting Lucas Torreira would also help Arsenal with their efforts to sign Tielemans, and Valencia fancy the Uruguay midfielder. But AS says Los Che want Torreira for free, while the Gunners, not unreasonably, expect a transfer fee.
JUVE CLOSING IN ON FIRMINO
Roberto Firmino and Liverpool appear set to part on good terms this summer, with the Brazil forward said to be ‘very close’ to completing a move to Italy.
Firmino’s minutes at Anfield are set to be limited even more this season by Darwin Nunez’s arrival and the emergence last term of Luis Diaz.
Corriere dello Sport says Juventus are willing to give him a greater role with negotiations between the Old Lady and Liverpool at an advanced stage. Juve have apparently offered £19million to team Firmino up with Angel Di Maria and Dusan Vlahovic.
WEST HAM, EVERTON EYE PSG FRINGE PLAYERS
Premier League clubs are circling around PSG while the Parisians look to shift some of their fringe players ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.
Having beaten the French giants to Gianluca Scamacca, West Ham are now hoping to take a centre-back off PSG’s hands. Mediafoot says David Moyes wants Abdou Diallo to cover for Nayef Aguerd and the Hammers are willing to meet PSG’s valuation of £17million.
PSG also hope to get rid of Idrissa Gueye ‘as soon as possible’, according to Fabrizio Romano, who says Everton have made an approach to re-sign the midfielder, even if talks are still at the early stages.
