Transfer gossip: Arsenal reach £30m agreement for next signing; Man Utd want German
Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign a Premier League player, while Man Utd are looking to sign a German defender…
EDGING CLOSER TO THE EMIRATES
Oleksandr Zinchenko is edging closer to a move to Arsenal after they agreed a fee for his services with Manchester City, according to reports.
The Ukraine international joined City from Ufa in 2016 for £1.7m and made his debut in October 2017 after spending a year out on loan at Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven. Since then he has been building up his appearances every season but they took a dip last campaign as he only played in 15 Premier League matches.
Of those 15 games, only ten were starts and now the 25-year-old is looking for regular first-team football with a move to Arsenal on the cards. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims today that Arsenal and Man City ‘have now reached verbal agreement in principle’ for Zinchenko.
He announces that the fee will be ‘around £30m’ with personal terms still being ‘discussed’. The ‘salary and length of contract’ is understood to be the next ‘key step to complete the agreement’.

MAN UTD TO RAID THE BUNDESLIGA?
Manchester United are not finished centre-back shopping despite being close to announcing a deal for Lisandro Martinez, according to reports.
The Red Devils are on the verge of announcing the signing of the Ajax defender for €55m, adding to Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly, Raphael Varane, Axel Tuanzebe and Phil Jones in that department. But a report in Italy has claimed that they could be looking to bring in another centre-back this summer.
TuttoMercatoWeb claims that Man Utd are looking to ‘further armor [Erik] Ten Hag’s rearguard’ with Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai ‘evaluated’. The Italian publication add that he is ‘also thought of’ by the Red Devils as they continue to look at defensive reinforcements.
DEAL STILL HAS A HEARTBEAT
Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Sevilla defender Jules Kounde after Nathan Ake decided to stay at Man City, according to reports.
The Blues have been linked to the France international for a year or so with the centre-back almost moving to Stamford Bridge last summer. And now The Guardian claims they are back in for him after a ‘decision has been made’ for Ake ‘to remain in Manchester’ with Chelsea failing to agree a fee with City.
Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly but they are still on the lookout for one more centre-back after Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen left on free transfers this summer.
But after the news about Ake staying at City, Chelsea ‘are focusing on talks with Paris Saint-Germain over Presnel Kimpembe and are expected to make a fresh attempt to sign Kounde’.
