Frenkie De Jong and Matthijs De Ligt applaud Holland fans.

Chelsea have offered two defenders and £51million for Man Utd target Frenkie De Jong, while Liverpool are being linked with two Juventus stars…

As if their pursuit of Frenkie De Jong wasn’t complex enough for Manchester United, here come Chelsea, with their Champions League football and their part-exchange offers…

United have been trying to pin down De Jong all summer, with Erik ten Hag viewing the the Barcelona midfielder as an essential addition during his first summer in charge. Initially, De Jong didn’t fancy it until Barca made it clear he’d be off if they were offered a good deal. Oh, and he’d have to write off a vast chunk of the wages he deferred when Barca were in the financial sh*t. Which they almost certainly still are.

But they have their own recruiting to do, which is why Chelsea’s offer may appeal more. Sport says the Blues are ready to plonk Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso on Barca’s table, as well as £51million.

Chelsea and United could also be squaring up over another Dutchman…

The Blues have been trying to grind Juventus down over Matthijs De Ligt, who has a £102million buy-out clause, but Todd Boehly reckoned he could get the centre-back for around half that amount.

Bild says United have been in touch with De Ligt’s representatives, though it seems they’ve turned up too late again, because the defender only has eyes for Bayern Munich at the moment.

Liverpool are also being linked with De Ligt, and his Juve team-mate Adrien Rabiot, as part of a £102million deal, according to Corriere dello Sport. Not sodding likely, we’d suggest.

United jet off on their pre-season tour today but Cristiano Ronaldo won’t be boarding the plane.

The 37-year-old wants to leave the Red Devils, which would leave Ten Hag with another hole in his squad. One he could fill with Victor Osimhen.

United and Bayern are both keen on the Nigeria striker, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, with both clubs set to lose leading centre-forwards. Ronaldo has been linked with Napoli, who are also being linked with a move for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, if Osimhen is on his way.

Bayern’s concern surrounds Robert Lewandowski, who wants to join Barca, even if the Catalans are unable to move decisively for the Poland goal-machine.

Which presents an opportunity for PSG. Under new manager Kylian Mbappe Christophe Galtier, the Parisians are looking to reinforce their forward line with Lewandowski and, according to Footmercato, Gianluca Scamacca.

There is still some negotiating to be done, but Sassuolo are likely to accept £45million plus add-ons, with PSG not far off the Italian club’s valuation of their 16-goal striker.
