Chelsea have made a top Man Utd target a ‘priority signing’ for the summer transfer window, while the Red Devils are prepared to pay a huge fee for Harry Kane…
FRESH DE JONG SAGA?
Chelsea want to reignite interest from Premier League clubs in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Man Utd spent most of last summer in pursuit of the Netherlands international with the Red Devils and Barca reportedly reaching an agreement in principle over a transfer fee. However, De Jong made it clear that he had no intention of leaving the Catalan giants with the midfielder an integral member of Xavi’s side.
There have been rumours that Man Utd will look to pursue De Jong again in the summer transfer window with some Erik ten Hag looking to move some fringe players on. But Football Insider insists that Chelsea – who also made attempts in the summer to sign De Jong – have made the Barcelona midfielder ‘a priority signing this summer’.
It is claimed that Chelsea ‘remain interested in signing De Jong this summer, with owner Todd Boehly a huge admirer of the midfielder’ and the report hints that Barcelona could be forced to sell because of their financial struggles.
Football Insider also touch on interest from Man Utd with the Premier League giants ‘in the race to sign De Jong this summer, with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag eager to reunite with his former Ajax star at Old Trafford’.
Speaking about his future earlier this week, De Jong said: “I’m very calm, happy. I want to stay at Barcelona for many more years.”
MOST EXPENSIVE BRITISH PLAYER
Man Utd are plotting a record-breaking deal to sign Tottenham striker Harry Kane in the summer transfer window, according to reports.
Kane has scored 20 goals in 27 Premier League matches this season with his two goals in a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday helping Spurs strengthen their grip on fourth place.
However, it is another trophyless season for Tottenham and Kane after they crashed out both the FA Cup and Champions League within seven days of each other. And many feel Kane will either move this summer to another club or renew his contract at Tottenham, which expires in the summer of 2024.
The Daily Mirror insist Kane is ‘No.1 summer transfer target’ at Man Utd with the Red Devils ‘prepared to make him the most expensive British player of all-time’. Man Utd boss Ten Hag is searching ‘for the final piece of the jigsaw at Old Trafford and he has decided England’s skipper is that man’ and the Spurs star ‘will be on the market’ this summer.
The report claims that the chances of Kane renewing his deal at Tottenham instead of moving on are ‘non-existent’ and Ten Hag reckons ‘Kane’s arrival will turn the club into genuine title contenders’.
Jack Grealish is the current most expensive British player of all-time after Man City signed him from Aston Villa for £100m – but Man Utd are prepared to go over that to land Kane.
