Gossip: Chelsea eye Barca keeper as Real target Kepa
REAL PONDER KEPA MOVE
Just because Kepa Arrizabalaga has been reinstated to the Chelsea goal doesn’t necessarily mean that Frank Lampard rates him highly enough to stick with beyond the end of the season. The Blues almost have to play the Spaniard if they hope to claim back a large slice of the £72million they paid Athletic Bilbao is 2018.
Real Madrid could do Lampard a favour by taking the world’s most expensive goalkeeper off his hands. The Daily Star reckons Real are mulling over a bid for Kepa in the summer since the last keeper they bought from Chelsea hasn’t impressed Zinedine Zidane sufficiently.
Their interest in Kepa comes a couple of days after links with David De Gea re-emerged and if Real really want either then there is perhaps a deal to be done with both Manchester United and Chelsea.
HENDERSON TO RETURN
If Real opt to take Kepa back to Spain then United could help fill the void in the Stamford Bridge goal.
Chelsea are apparently looking at Dean Henderson as a potential long term No.1 and United certainly have a decision to make over the Sheffield United loanee. Though selling him to a major rival for £25million, as is suggested in the Daily Express, sounds like the wrong move.
Sending him back to Sheffield United for another season would be far more palatable for the Red Devils and the Daily Mail says Henderson has told his team-mates at Bramall Lane that he will return for a third season if he isn’t guaranteed the starting spot at Old Trafford.
CHELSEA EYE GERMANY KEEPER
All of which would leave Chelsea short of a goalkeeper. So they are also looking towards Barcelona…
Marc-Andre ter Stegen‘s face doesn’t fit with Lionel Messi, apparently, so that makes his future at the Nou Camp uncertain. The I says Chelsea have spotted an opportunity and they are ready to make a move.
Ter Stegen, though, would not come cheap and reports suggest PSG are also willing to make the German the world’s highest-paid goalkeeper for not a lot of work at the Parc des Princes.
Other reports in Spain suggest Barca could replace Ter Stegen with Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon.
AND THE REST
Manchester City are ready to hand Kevin de Bruyne £350,000 a week to sign a new deal… Arsenal are again being linked with a move for their former youth team player Donyell Malen, currently with PSV… Man Utd are confident of keeping Tahith Chong despite interest from Barcelona, Inter and Juventus… Spurs are chasing Rangers £22m-rated left-back Borna Barisic… Chelsea are at the front of the queue to sign Aldershot’s 17-year-old midfielder Reece Wylie.
