Liverpool have replaced Timo Werner as their top target this summer, while Man Utd are now ‘clear favourites’ for a defender…
TRAORE IN AT NUMBER ONE
Wolves winger Adama Traore has replaced RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as Liverpool’s top target this summer, according to reports. Werner was regarded as Liverpool’s primary transfer target heading into this summer with reports the Reds would trigger his release clause over the next couple of months.
However, The Sun now claims that Traore is now ‘at the top of his [Jurgen Klopp’s] summer hitlist as he looks for a squad upgrade and to ease pressure on his front three’. The Spain Under-21 international has shown a major improvement throughout his time at Molineux, scoring six goals and adding seven assists this term.
Wolves ‘would want more than £60m’ for Traore with Manchester United and Manchester City also thought to be sniffing around. The report adds that a deal for Traore ‘will stretch the Kop coffers to the limit’ as they try to handle the losses made during the pandemic.
MAN UTD LEAD KOULIBALY RACE
Manchester United are ahead in the race to sign Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, according to reports. Some of the most recent stories had put rivals Liverpool ‘in pole position’ due to the guarantee of Champions League football and the promise of being partnered with Virgil van Dijk.
However, The Sun reckons that Man Utd are now ‘clear favourites’ to sign Koulibaly ‘after their rivals pulled out of the race’. The Red Devils are said to be ‘desperate to bring in Koulibaly’ despite the arrival of England international Harry Maguire last summer.
Man Utd ‘are willing to stump up around £80m to land him this summer’ after Napoli eased their demands. United ‘may yet face some competition domestically’ but they are confident they are in ‘pole position’ for Koulibaly’s signature.
MAN UTD ‘ATTENTIVE’ TO SIGNING
Manchester United are monitoring Thomas Lemar’s situation at Atletico Madrid with his exit on the cards, according to reports in Spain. French football expert Julien Laurens recently claimed that Lemar can still “go to the next level” amid links to Old Trafford.
The France international has been a flop in Madrid since his club-record move two years ago. He has made 11 starts for the club in all competitions this season, being substituted at half-time of the 1-0 Champions League last-16 first-leg win over Liverpool in February.
And now Spanish publication AS claims that Man Utd are ‘attentive’ to his situation at Atletico but that Diego Simeone is determined to get the best out of Lemar. Any deal is unlikely this summer due to his value dropping from €70m to €24m, meaning the Spanish outfit would make a huge loss if they let him go this summer.
