LIVERPOOL LINKED WITH SALAH SLAYER RAMOS
We’re just about a week into 2021 but the new year has brought with it a few shocking developments already. This, though, would top the lot…
Liverpool are interested in signing Sergio Ramos, apparently. Yes, that Sergio Ramos, the very same one who almost killed Mo Salah.
That is the word according to El Chiringuito. Ramos is out of contract at the end of the season and despite Real Madrid agreeing to give the 34-year-old a two-year deal, the terms remain a sticking point.

CITY HEAD QUEUE FOR MESSI AS BARCA GET DESPERATE
Lionel Messi could also be swapping Spain for the north west. It seems increasingly unlikely that the Barcelona megastar will recommit to the club having spent most of 2020 looking like he’d rather be anywhere else, and presidential candidate Agussti Benedito admits he is ‘pessimistic’ over the prospect of keeping the 33-year-old.
Manchester City are best placed to take advantage – that’s the feeling at the Etihad, according to The Telegraph.
But Barca haven’t given up just yet. AS says the Catalans are considering acquiring an MLS franchise to help Messi end his career in USA. Another presidential candidate Xavi Vilajoana says he’d even make sure Luis Suarez was signed to play alongside Messi.
A couple of problems there, fella: Barca have barely a pot to p*ss in right now, and MLS franchises don’t come cheap. Charlotte FC, currently the last available franchise of the league’s expansion plan, is valued at around £235million, while Barca have spent much of the last year trying to negotiate salary deferments with the players they have.
HAMMERS AND AJAX TO SWAP STRIKERS?
Wednesday’s whispers suggested West Ham were casting their net across Europe in the hope of landing themselves a striker. They might have got a nibble in Amsterdam…
De Telegraaf says the Hammers are one of two clubs keen on Ajax forward Lassina Traore. The teenager has scored eight goals – five were in the same game – and weighed in with the same number of assists in 16 games this season.
Ajax may be tempted to cash in on Traore since the 19-year-old is approaching the final year of his contract. Wolves are also said to be monitoring his situation.
West Ham could grease the wheels of a deal by sending Sebastien Haller the other way. L’Equipe reckons Ajax are interested in the centre-forward who would cost around £22.7million.
