Gossip: Liverpool eye Real Madrid star, Chelsea prey on Pope

It’s hard to envisage how Jurgen Klopp might improve his Treble-chasing Liverpool side but reports in Spain suggest he has identified one way to do it…

According to El Desmarque (yeah, we know) Klopp reckons Isco is just the man to strengthen a midfield a little short on creativity. The Reds haven’t had too many problems picking off packed defences but the Real Madrid playmaker is seen as just the man to make them unstoppable.

Isco is back in favour at Real who have reportedly already turned down offers of around £48million for the Spain midfielder, but they might be more tempted if any of his suitors were to throw in another £10million.

Klopp’s back-up plan if Isco can’t be teased away from Real? Napoli’s Fabian Ruiz, apparently.

We have a week to go before the deadline, people. Everybody panic!

Chelsea could be one of the busiest clubs before 11pm next Friday. So far they haven’t made the most of their transfer ban reprieve but Frank Lampard is almost certain to spend on a striker before this time next week.

The Blues want Edinson Cavani but the PSG forward appears destined for Atletico Madrid. The Telegraph also reports that Manchester United are ‘cautiously exploring the option’ of a move for the Uruguayan but once again, it appears too little, too late from Ed Woodward and his cronies at Old Trafford.

So both United and Chelsea are being linked with Moussa Dembele instead. According to The Sun, Lampard is extremely keen to land the Lyon striker and talks between the clubs over a possible £45million move for the 23-year-old are said to be in full swing.

Chelsea are also making plans for the summer and reports suggest there could be another change in their goal.

The Blues made Kepa Arrizabalaga the world’s most expensive goalkeeper 18 months ago when they needed a replacement for Thibaut Courtois but so far, the Spaniard has struggled to justify his price tag.

The Daily Mail claims Chelsea could look to sign a keeper in the summer to put pressure on Kepa and at the top of their list is Nick Pope.

The England stopper has three years to run on his contract at Burnley so he wouldn’t come cheap. And how much of the £72million Chelsea might recoup if they were were to sell Kepa is unclear. Just over half, perhaps?
