Transfer gossip: Man Utd to move for Barca winger as Arsenal beat Bayern to Chelsea star
Manchester United want to sign a Barcelona winger, despite the many reasons they shouldn’t, while Arsenal appear to have beaten Bayern Munich to a big-money Germany star…
MAN UTD KEEN ON DEMBELE DEAL
Manchester United continue to be linked with wingers, which makes very little sense. They are already well-stocked in wide positions and given the many other demands on their currently-unspecified budget amid a tortuous takeover saga, it would defy logic if they were to go and chuck millions at Barcelona for Ousmane Dembele.
But that’s the claim from Fichajes and, well, this is Manchester United. Xavi likes the 26-year-old and last season, Dembele showed some of the form that made Barcelona pay in excess of €100million back when they had money burning a hole in their pocket after selling Neymar to PSG.
These days, while they are on the bones of their arse, they would doubtless welcome a big offer from the Red Devils, especially since the France attacker is once again out of contract next year. And his injury problems persist, having missed three months of the campaign with a hamstring issue.

REAL TO SIGN EX-STOKIE OVER KANE
United’s biggest priority must be to source a centre-forward. Harry Kane would be the primary target if they were a serious club this summer – and no longer does it appear that they have competition from Real Madrid.
Real need a replacement for Karim Benzema but having just spent a fortune on Jude Bellingham, the Spaniards are keeping dry what powder they have left, perhaps with a view to waiting for Kylian Mbappe next summer.
Telefoot says Mbappe will wait until next summer before making his big move away from PSG, despite their urgency to sell this year rather than allowing their biggest star to go free in 12 months. In the meantime, Sport reports that Real will sign Joselu from Espanyol this week to serve as a stop-gap striker. The 33-year-old ex-Stoke centre-forward will cost less than half a million quid to borrow for the season before Real have the option to buy for £1.3million.
ARSENAL BEAT BAYERN TO HAVERTZ
Bayern Munich were also linked with Kane but they seem to have moved on to other targets, with the Bavarians meddling in the business of a number of Premier League clubs.
They would take Kai Havertz from Chelsea but Sky Sports in Germany says Bayern have left it too late and the 24-year-old is most likely to sign for Arsenal.
Bayern appear to be having more luck with Kyle Walker, with the Manchester City right-back said to be in advanced negotiations with the Bundesliga champions. Should a deal go through for the England defender, he could be joined by Kim Min-jae, who Fabrizio Romano reckons has chosen Bayern over Man Utd. Having missed out on the Napoli centre-back, United have switched their attention to Monaco’s Axel Disasi.
