Gossip: Man Utd may move for Bowen, Pogba facing pay-cut
Liverpool have seemingly left the road clear for Man Utd to take Jarod Bowen, while Cristiano Ronaldo is planning showdown talks…
MAN UTD COULD MOVE FOR BOWEN
Manchester United’s interest in Declan Rice is well known, but the Red Devils may look to sign the England midfielder’s mate too…
The Manchester Evening News reckons the Red Devils might look to bring Jarrod Bowen to Old Trafford this summer. Admittedly, the ‘might’ is doing a lot of heavy lifting, with the MEN’s stance seemingly more suggestive rather than a claim of any concrete link.
Apparently, Liverpool’s signing of Luis Diaz could put United in the box seat for Bowen, who has had a hand in more goals this season than any other English player. Surely a Three Lions call-up is around the corner.
But with Liverpool seemingly out of the picture, United could enjoy almost a free run at the former Hull winger.
The Red Devils have also received a boost over their interest in Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans.
RONALDO WANTS TALKS, POGBA COULD FACE PAY-CUT
Bowen and Tielemans could help United replace two of their biggest names this summer…
There have been whispers surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s intentions with the 37-year-old perhaps looking to leave Old Trafford once more. The Portuguese superstar’s return to United has not worked out as all parties might have hoped, with the Red Devils facing yet another reset.
Ronaldo apparently wants ‘showdown talks’ with his agent and the forward is keen to meet Jorge Mendes when he returns to Portugal next month on international duty. That’s the line from the Daily Star at least. Though you would think if anyone can get Mendes to come to them on their timescale, it would probably be Ronaldo.
Paul Pogba will also be in regular contact with his agent as he prepares to leave United on a free transfer for the second time in his career.
United have reportedly left a contract on the table, but everything about Pogba suggests he wants out, with Real Madrid and PSG both linked with the France star.
But Pogba is said to want to go back to Juventus. In which case, IlBianconero says the 28-year-old will have to forget any plans for a pay rise and instead brace for a salary reduction, with his current £290,000-a-week wages unable to squeeze within Juve’s budget.
LEWANDOWSKI ONLY WANTS REAL MOVE
Real Madrid may be too busy spending all their cash on strikers to make Pogba an offer this summer…
The Spaniards look set to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer from PSG, though the France forward is set to command a contract worth around a gazillion euros a week.
Erling Haaland is also said to be a target, while Robert Lewandowski is reported to have set his heart on a switch to the Bernabeu.
The Poland goalmachine will enter the final year of his Bayern Munich contract in the summer and looks set to be on the move. In which case, AS says his priority is a move to the La Liga leaders.
But Lewandowski will have to wait, with Real only willing to move for the 33-year-old if Haaland is unattainable.
