Gossip: Barca eye Bruno while Man Utd make Pogba final offer

Just imagine if Bruno Fernandes walks while Man Utd cave in to Paul Pogba…

BARCA WEIGH UP BRUNO MOVE
If you think things are bad at Manchester United right now, just wait until Bruno Fernandes packs his bags for Barcelona…

That’s the scenario being suggested by El Nacional, with Barca apparently weighing up a move for the Portugal star as their headline summer signing if they are unable to land Erling Haaland.

The story goes that Fernandes is one of the unhappy players – 17 at the last count – to have grown frustrated by United’s descent into mediocrity. And Bruno is one of the few who can look himself in the mirror knowing he’s not culpable in the clubs decline.

UNITED HAVE LAST GO AT TEMPTING POGBA
Paul Pogba can’t say the same thing, but United are still said to be trying to convince the Frenchman to stay at Old Trafford.

Pogba is out of contract in the summer and the midfielder has barely bothered to hide his urgency to get away.

But it seems United aren’t taking the hint. The Sun reckons the club have left a contract on the table with a basic salary in excess of £400,000 a week.

NEVES ‘A PRIORITY’ FOR RED DEVILS
Whether Pogba stays or goes, United need at least one new midfielder. And Ruben Neves appears to be their primary target.

The Wolves star is reported by Fichajes to be the Red Devils’ priority, whether this month or in the summer.

Neves has been warned that he’s just as likely to win a trophy at Wolves as he might at Old Trafford.

TOON EYE NEW SPINE
Away from the dumpster fire in Manchester to the one on Tyneside. At least Newcastle are planning to do something about the mess they’ve made…

Plenty in fact. Kieran Trippier is expected to be unveiled on Friday as the club’s first signing of the window, with plenty of other names in contention to join him.

One is Issa Diop. Not all that long ago, it might have cost Van Dijk money to get the centre-back away from West Ham, but L’Equipe says Newcastle reckon £10million might do the trick. Diop has struggled to impress in the absence of Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna, with the Hammers known to be looking for defensive reinforcements.

Newcastle are also hot on the trail of Todd Cantwell. Sky Sports reckons the Magpies and another Premier League club are keen on the Norwich midfielder.

The Telegraph says Divock Origi is one of the strikers in the frame for Newcastle, with the Liverpool forward being eyed alongside Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke.
