Transfer gossip: Man Utd go cold on Harry Kane as Declan Rice makes transfer decision

Manchester United are so terrified of Daniel Levy and the prospect of a Harry Kane saga, it seems they won’t bother bidding at all. But they will make an offer for Declan Rice…

UNITED TO WALK AWAY FROM KANE
Manchester United are ready to walk away from Harry Kane, is that? Righto.

That’s the claim from Football Insider, which suggests the Red Devils are set to leave the England striker at Tottenham and, instead, target an alternative. Like Rasmus Hojlund. All because they want to avoid a drawn-out drama that would mean getting down and dirty with Daniel Levy.

Which you can understand to a certain extent, but already at such an early point in the summer window, United need to sh*t or get off the pot if they really are that desperate to swerve a saga. They aren’t going to get a discount and if they really do want to sign one of the best strikers ever to do it in the Premier League, then they are going to have to cough up.

And to pin a talent like Hojlund as an alternative to Kane or Osimhen… they wouldn’t be kidding anyone. Hojlund is damn fine prospect but he hasn’t hit double figures yet for Atalanta since joining them last summer. The 20-year-old scored nine in 33 appearances in all competitions, 19 as a starter. Ideally, United need a Kane and a Hojlund this summer – together they would cost around £150million – since they have played most of this season without a fit-for-purpose centre-forward.

RICE RULES OUT BAYERN MOVE
United are scrimping somewhat because Erik ten Hag also wants at least one midfielder. Personal terms are said to have been agreed with Mason Mount, even if the Red Devils remain some way off Chelsea’s valuation of their academy graduate, while United are also sniffing around Mount’s mate, Declan Rice.

It seemed as though Arsenal were heavy favourites to land Rice, and they remain firmly in the running, even if United have stuck their beak in, along with Bayern Munich.

But the Daily Mail says Rice has chosen to reject Bayern’s advances in favour of staying in the Premier League, which sets up the prospect of a bidding war. Arsenal are set to offer £90million in cash, while United want to propose a part-exchange offer involving Scott McTominay.

MODRIC OFFERED MEGA-MONEY AND INTER MIAMI MOVE FOR MESSI
Karim Benzema received a mega-money offer to join Al-Ittihad this summer. And the Saudis want him to bring a mate…

The France star is considering an offer to end his Real Madrid career this summer when his contract expires, and Luka Modric has received a similar proposal. OKdiario says the 37-year-old has told his pals that he intends to accept a proposal that will see him receive £103million to play in Saudi Arabia for the next three seasons.

Lionel Messi has also been heavily linked with a switch to the green and pleasant lands of Saudi that he so enjoyed on a recent ill-timed holiday. But Sport says Inter Miami are desperate to keep him away from the kingdom’s ‘unexpected wonders’ by offering the 25-year-old £43million a year to move to MLS for four seasons. And to sweeten the deal, they’ve sacked Phil Neville.
