Transfer gossip: Man Utd to use England international in part-ex offer to Spurs for Harry Kane

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, and Tottenham striker Harry Kane.

Tottenham are keen on Dean Henderson, which suits Manchester United just fine as the Red Devils look to tempt Daniel Levy into selling Harry Kane this summer…

UNITED’S HENDERSON HOPE IN KANE DEAL
Manchester United hope they may finally have found a use for Dean Henderson…

The England goalkeeper is currently on loan at Nottingham Forest after failing to establish himself as No.1 at Old Trafford. No longer is he first choice at Forest either after Steve Cooper moved for Keylor Navas in January.

So Henderson will return to United at the end of the season and, assuming the 26-year-old doesn’t blow Erik ten Hag’s socks off as he expected he would have done last summer, then the former Sheffield United loanee will be on his way again, despite the fact United are looking for a new goalkeeper themselves.

ESPN says Tottenham are seriously interested in Henderson as they seek a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris. They are also keen on Jordan Pickford but the England No.1 is only likely to leave Everton if the Toffees are relegated.

Spurs’ interest suits United as, apparently, it ‘could encourage Daniel Levy to be more open to talks over a deal for Harry Kane’. It might. But it’s unlikely to knock a hefty whack off Levy’s £100million valuation of the England striker.

With Henderson on his way and David De Gea far from certain to extend his contract beyond the end of the season, United are said to be looking at Brentford’s David Raya and Porto’s Diogo Costa.

CHELSEA TO TEMPT ROMA WITH LUKAKU
Like Henderson, Romelu Lukaku will return to his parent club this summer before being shunted out again. Assuming Chelsea can find a taker…

Inter Milan have no interest in taking Lukaku back for a third spell but the Belgian might return to Serie A if Chelsea can use him as a makeweight to re-sign another of their former forwards.

According to Calciomercato, the Blues hope that throwing Lukaku on the table might reduce Roma’s demands if they are to sell Tammy Abraham. Chelsea have a buy-back option on the England centre-forward but Todd Boehly is seeking a discount on the £70million figure they would have to pay to activate it.

CITY KEEN TO GO WITH THE FLO
With Florian Wirtz back in the Germany fold after missing the World Cup with a knee injury, the vultures are circling once more around the Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid.

Manchester City are among the clubs keeping a keen eye on Wirtz, according to 90min, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle also known to be monitoring the 19-year-old.

Fabrizio Romano reckons Real Madrid are sniffing too, while Wirtz has already spoken about potential interest from Barcelona. But Leverkusen hope to keep their biggest asset with the promise of a leading role as Germany prepare to host the European Championships next year.
