UNITED COULD MOVE FOR MADDISON AFTER GREALISH GAFFE
Jack Grealish made a d*ck of himself at the weekend. The Aston Villa captain has apologised for ignoring his own advice by going out and crashing his car during the lockdown. He’s been fined by Villa but it could cost him more than that.
The Daily Star says Manchester United were prepared to pay £70million for Grealish this summer but that deal is now in doubt after this latest episode. Instead, United could refocus their attention on Leicester playmaker James Maddison, who’s never made a daft decision. Oh, hang on.
The story is speculative at best. If United really are in deep with Grealish then it seems unlikely that they will let this moment of madness put them off. In Grealish’s words, they’ll probably just wait until “this has all boiled over”.
BELLINGHAM BUNDESLIGA BOUND
The coronavirus chaos looked at one point last week like it might work in United’s favour where Jude Bellingham was concerned.
The Birmingham youngster is a target for many clubs but United and Borussia Dortmund were said to be leading the chase. Bellingham visited Carrington a couple of weeks ago to meet with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ed Woodward, but it was suggested the 16-year-old was leaning towards Germany.
Then last week, while clubs across Europe began to consider the financial fall-out from the pandemic, it was thought Dortmund’s hands could be tied. But Bild is reporting that the Bundesliga side are now firmly back in the hunt. Indeed, they are ‘only a signature away’ from landing Bellingham, no doubt confident their investment could pay-off three-fold in the future if they can copper up £30million now.
DORTMUND WON’T BUDGE OVER SANCHO FEE
Dortmund aren’t making it easy for United over Jadon Sancho either.
The England winger may have ‘unofficially confirmed’ that he will join United but that doesn’t mean Dortmund will roll over to have their bellies tickled.
Fabrizio Romano says the Germans have warned United – or anyone else keen on Sancho – that the coronavirus crisis won’t alter their valuation. They want 110million euros – currently around £96.5million. Which doesn’t seem all that unreasonable. Certainly not according to Rio Ferdinand.
AND THE REST
Liverpool aren’t interested in re-signing Philippe Coutinho from Barcelona… Sao Paulo’s Igor Gomes is a target for Real Madrid, Barcelona, Sevilla and Ajax… Willian would prefer to stay in the Premier League should he leave Chelsea, alerting Arsenal and Tottenham on alert… Spurs and Arsenal are joined by West Ham in the race for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren… Dani Ceballos would prefer to join Real Betis than stay at Arsenal, should he be sold by Real Madrid.
