Manchester United are keen to beat Liverpool and everyone else to Jude Bellingham next summer, while Arsenal could wave off one of their defenders…
MAN UTD REKINDLE BELLINGHAM INTEREST
Someone out there wants it known that Manchester United are in the race to sign Jude Bellingham.
Both The Mirror and Daily Star are running with the line that the England midfielder is United’s top target for next summer, reviving interest that pre-dates his move to Borussia Dortmund.
Apparently, United will keep their powder dry in January ahead of next summer’s window, before which meetings have already taken place at Old Trafford, with Bellingham placed at the top of their wish-list.
The Red Devils know they must qualify for the Champions League to stand any chance of landing the teenager and they are encouraged by the fact that Liverpool look set to struggle to secure a top-four spot.
The Reds have been favourites to land Bellingham but their hopes appear to be diminishing – not just because of their struggles this season, but also because other interested parties are better equipped for the inevitable bidding war.
Bild says Liverpool are among the four most interested clubs, alongside Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid and the Reds would be willing to spend £86million, but the other three ‘have better financial possibilities’.
RED DEVILS TARGET BAYERN VETERAN
United are also looking in Germany for an answer to their centre-forward problem…
Right now, Erik ten Hag is reliant upon Cristiano Ronaldo, Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford to lead his line. Ronaldo will almost certainly be off in the summer, if not before; Martial is made of papier-mache; and Rashford is better used coming off the left flank.
So, according to Media Foot, the Red Devils are casting their eye towards Bayern Munich, specifically in the direction of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The Cameroonian is set to become a free-agent next summer when United are ‘seriously considering’ making the 33-year-old an offer. But so too are Bayern, who are intent on securing a new deal with the former Stoke and PSG striker.
ARSENAL READY FOR TIERNEY OFFERS
There is plenty of chatter around the Arsenal left-back area this morning, with a possible departure for a player not long ago considered as one of Mikel Arteta’s untouchables.
The Telegraph reckons it is ‘inevitable’ that Kieran Tierney will attract interest in January since the Scotland defender has slipped down the Gunners’ pecking order. Tierney has only started three Premier League games, which may be of interest to Pep Guardiola, while Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest.
Injuries and Oleksandr Zinchenko’s arrival have contributed to Tierney’s reduced role, while Caught Offside reckons Arsenal were offered the chance to sign another left-back in the shape of Benfica’s Alejandro Grimaldo, who was also linked with Manchester City, but the Gunners snubbed the opportunity.
