Man Utd target Kim Min-jae challenges Richarlison for the ball

Man Utd want to sign a defender they turned down for £3million just 18 months ago, while Chelsea and Liverpool are looking to sign a Sheffield United star…

Man Utd have decided they now want to sign Napoli defender Kim Min-jae after turning a potential transfer down just 18 months ago, according to reports.

Harry Maguire, who has impressed at the World Cup for England, has been knocked down the pecking order at Old Trafford with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez seemingly Erik ten Hag’s preferred centre-back partnership.

However, there is a feeling that the Dutchman still wants to strengthen that area of his side further and Napoli defender Min-jae is now on their list.

The Daily Mirror claims Man Utd have ‘renewed their interest in South Korean central defender Min-jae 18 months after being offered him for £3million’.

The defender was interesting Man Utd and Tottenham 18 months ago but Turkish giants Fenerbahce nipped in and sealed his signing from Chinese side Beijing Sinobo Guoan.

Only 12 months later and Fenerbahce sold him to Napoli for £16m and now his transfer value has skyrocketed again and ‘questions are now being asked within Old Trafford why the club didn’t follow up their interest in the 26-year-old’.

Napoli are ‘vulnerable’ to losing Min-jae with the South Korea international having a £38m release clause in his deal and the Serie A outfit are ‘preparing an improved contract’.

The Daily Mirror adds that Man Utd ‘won’t be walking away’ with Min-jae ‘interested in eventually moving to the Premier League’.

Chelsea and Liverpool are both interested in bringing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge to the Premier League in January, according to reports.

The Blades are currently second in the Championship and well placed to make a return to the top flight at the end of the campaign. Berge, who has had a number of injury issues during his time at Bramall Lane, is one of Sheff United’s best players and has been transformed from a holding midfielder into a player that likes to drive at the opposition’s defence.

The Norway international moved to Sheff United from Genk in January 2020 with the Blades challenging for the Champions League positions at the time. But it has not gone to plan since and now French news outlet Jeunes Footeux claim that Berge is ‘eager to leave the Blades’ in January.

Chelsea and Liverpool are understood to be ‘attentive to the situation’ of Berge at Bramall Lane and ‘could go on the offensive’ in the winter market. The report estimates his worth at around €20m.
